Ridley Scott

Who know Ridley Scott was 40 when he started making films. Who knew the Alien movies and Blade Runner are in the same universe? While Blade Runner was happening Weaver was in space being with the alien threat.

Web Film School or 2 Day Film School Weekend Film School etc.

Then again I read From Reel to Deal and after having a successful business for years Dov S-S Simens gave it all up to start a new adventure in Hollywood. He even says that he didn’t do well in Hollywood in the beginning and started teaching what he learned or was learning in Hollywood. He was also a line producer (says this in his book and vids) so he figured out the budgets that are reported and the reality were vastly different. Most of what he learned was the school of hard knocks in Holywood and wants to make sure that others don’t have to go through those kinds of lessons. So what he didn’t go to film school? When you think about it after you get out you still have to go through the school of hard knocks anyway. Call it grad school after grad school.lol Seriously read From Reel to Deal: Everything You Need to Create a Successful Independent Film by Dov S-S Simens.

Anyway this makes me not feel so bad (not 40), but turned 30. When I think about it. It’s probably why many of these people are successful. Because as young adults we lack a lot of experience not only with other youth, but with adults (at least in this generation) where as in the Old Hollywood studio system you worked your way up the system as an apprentice to whoever was above you. Watch Visions of Light: The Art of Cinematography. Plus our culture is abnormal in that it separates its young from its old. We have age based classrooms etc. (won’t get into that, maybe will be an off topic post or even a good idea for a docu)
